“Hi, so the first big difference, I thought, it really surprised me, um, when I was talking to the plan provider, they were just sort of plucking numbers out in the air, you know, such and such a practice charges this month, the month that practice charges this much a month, so pitch yourself sort of in the middle.
When Jane and Jonathan came, they actually looked at how the business was running and how it was obviously failing in the NHS system. But not only that, they looked at where I wanted the business to go in the future. That’s how they came to the figure, make the business work and make it work the way I wanted it to work moving forward.
Now for me, that was such a weight off my shoulders because I felt like I wasn’t just throwing my NHS contract away and jumping into the dark abyss. The numbers actually made sense and actually had a purpose to get me where I wanted. They listened and made everything work for me.
So the second thing was the actual conversion itself. There was tons of preparation beforehand so it was absolutely nerve wracking. When I knew those letters had been posted the nerves really started to kick in because you know you feel like you’re putting yourself out there and are these patients actually going to like you?
But Jane and Jonathan had everything prepped. They thought of things I’d never ever contemplated. So the team were prepared. They were ready for the questions, we had a system in place. So although the nerves kicked in when it all happened, it actually felt in control and like we had a plan, we all knew what our role was and what we were doing and what we were achieving.
So Jane being on hand that day had everybody motivated, working along. It was like a seamless path that the patients had been given. Everybody these little roles that they knew what their role, what their job was. It was so good and just took so much pressure off me. What we didn’t anticipate was the letters not arriving, that was a new one for Jane and Jonathan, but literally every question the patients asked, they knew how to handle and having that support when we had a queue down the path was just, it was priceless. It just helped us so much and took the pressure off the whole team because we all knew exactly what we were doing.
Now the final one of the three things that really shocked me is, I was that fixated on leading up to conversion, the actual conversion, I hadn’t thought about what happens afterwards. Now afterwards, Jane and Jonathan can tell you, I’ve had curveballs thrown at me that I didn’t see coming because I was that fixated on “get the conversion done, get the conversion done.” You know, life is still happening, throwing curveballs at you, but Jane and Jonathan have been absolute rocks for me. They’ve been there, they’ve supported me, they’ve advised me, they’ve been a shoulder to cry on, listen to. They’ve just been there. And not just, they’ve listened, listened to what I wanted, listened to what I wanted to happen.
Talked to me about it, supported me, and given me so much advice. They’ve been like two rocks, getting me through the whole emotions of the journey that we’ve gone through. Not only have they been rocks, they are lovely, lovely caring people. They’ve got your back, they’ve got your corner. I feel like I’ve got two friends who are really, really admire and respect. They’ve listened through every step of the way and what they want is for me to achieve what I want and I just can’t thank them enough.”
